Take the Downeaster Amtrack train to Boston from the station in Saco.

You are looking at a picture of the Pool itself which is a vast round tidal inlet with a mooring basin for fishing boats and pleasure craft. The surrounding salt marshes and adjacent lands are known nationally as premier bird-watching sites.
- The centerpiece of the area is a beautiful, two-mile stretch of pristine sandy beach — perfect for swimming, board, body, or wind surfing, building a sandcastle, casting for stripers or bluefish, strolling, or just relaxing with a book.
- The beach is bracketed by spectacular rocky ledges to explore, perfect for youngsters to search the tidal pools for small crabs, starfish, beach glass, sand dollars, or other sea creatures.
- The Maine Audubon Trail, which winds around East Point, leads you to magnificent Maine's Rock bound coast at its best. It offers access to pebble beaches and views of Wood Island Lighthouse and of lobstermen tending their traps.
- Enjoy the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge areas that are in each of the four beach communities.
- Kayak in the calm Pool waters, or up the Saco River, or along the rock-bound coastline, investigating the many coves and islands. Gone with the Wind, a company in Biddeford Pool, rents kayaks, wind surfing boards and organizes tours.
- Take a tour of historic Wood Island Light aboard the shuttle boat "Lightrunner".
- Feast on lobster and other local delicacies at the Pool Lobster Co. or have breakfast at Hattie's or Goldthwaite's Store, all with outside dining, facing incredible views, or enjoy lunch or dinner at Buffleheads Restaurant in Hills Beach facing beautiful Saco Bay.
